Nelly Candela-Renteria
Owner & Operations Administrator
Nelly is a proud graduate of New Mexico State University, holding dual bachelor’s degrees in Criminal Justice and Foreign Language. She began her journey as a Service Coordinator, providing vital support services for individuals with disabilities—a role that was both fulfilling and impactful. After college, she chose to continue working in this rewarding field.
As she began her family, Nelly transitioned to supporting her household while her husband launched his partnership with Double R Construction, LLC. Now that her children are in school, she’s excited to focus on the family business, Double R Design & Build, LLC, where she manages day-to-day operations. She thrives on staying organized and enjoys helping others achieve their goals.
Outside of work, Nelly cherishes time with her family, creating core memories through travel and attending concerts—especially when they involve seeing her favorite artists in different locations. She is passionate about plants and gardening, and she loves exploring digital design. She recently discovered a newfound sense of faith that brings her peace and direction.
Luis Carlos Renteria
Owner & Licensed Contractor
Luis discovered his passion for construction and design early on, growing up in Chicago and watching his parents buy and flip homes. A memorable field trip to downtown Chicago further ignited his fascination with architecture. Moving to Las Cruces at 14, he took woodworking classes, attended DABCC to study Pre-Architecture and Design, then shifted his focus toward gaining hands-on experience.
At 22, Luis secured his GB2 residential license, then upgraded to a GB98 license in 2016, allowing him to take on commercial projects. He put this license to use when he partnered with a longtime colleague to launch Double R Construction, LLC—a fruitful seven-year venture that shaped his expertise and fueled his growth.
Now, as he launches Double R Design & Build, LLC in 2025, Luis continues to blend his extensive skills with his deep-rooted passion for building. Outside of work, he is devoted to his high school sweetheart and their three children, whom he coaches in soccer. Whether exploring the outdoors or simply enjoying each other’s company, family remains at the heart of Luis’ life.
